Hi!  My name is Scott Colby and I’m the owner of SC Fitness, LLC and the creator of Fit For Photos, a program I designed to help you look and feel beautiful, fit, and strong.

I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Virginia in 1995, and did several years of human movement science research before getting into the fitness industry.

Upon completing grad school, I did a sports medicine research internship in 1996 in Vail Colorado under the guidance of Dr. Richard Steadman, the head U.S. ski team physician and Dr. Richard Hawkins, one of the team physicians of the Denver Broncos.

Next, I worked in the Coach Krzyzewski Human Performance Laboratory at Duke University, where my research interests included the mechanisms of ACL injuries during athleticcompetition and the higher rates of ACL injuries in female versus male athletes.  I also helped evaluate the fitness levels of the University of North Carolina’s women’s soccer players, and participated in a research project examining the landing mechanisms of the Duke University men’s basketball players.

In 1998, I joined the Movement Science Lab at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, where I helped analyze the gait of children with cerebral palsy with the purpose of assisting in the selection of the most appropriate treatment options.

In 1999, I earned my certification as a personal trainer from the American Council on Exercise.  I got into the fitness industry because I love helping others look and feel their best, and I soon realized how much of an impact changing someone’s physique also changed their mind and other areas of their lives.  I trained my first clients in their homes before opening an outdoor fitness boot camp for women in Dallas in 2005, which I ran until moving to Denver, Colorado 5½ years later.

Since getting into the fitness industry, I’ve worked with and coached thousands of men and women, not only through individual personal training and boot camps, but also through several coaching programs and products, teleseminars, and – most recently – my online coaching business and The Power to Change podcast series.  I’m an internationally known fitness professional and speaker, and I’m co-author of the best-selling book Total Body Breakthroughs.

I’ve given presentations at the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Society of Biomechanics and the Clinical Gait and Movement Analysis conferences, and has published research articles in Spine, The Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, Clinical Biomechanics, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy, and Gait and Posture.
