With over 8 years in the medical field, Mike Linares has worked both out in the field on an Ambulance in the dangerous streets of Los Angeles County and the in crazy busy the Emergency Rooms. Coupled with his passion for teaching & desire to help other students and mixed with his chronic typpos and bad grammmer, SIMPLEnursing.com was born to not only help his fellow RN students, but nursing students worldwide. “I hope you enjoy the valuable jewels that Simplenursing.com has to offer. If so please let me know! I am a real person & I´d love to hear your thoughts good or bad on Face book, Twitter, or Youtube.”
Committed to Your Success, Mike

Sugar is a HUGE contributor to inflammation, which is BAD for the heart. I heard this speaker talk more about salt and no mention of sugar, which is concerning that he is not teaching this aspect of the population’s grossly increasing food intake. As well, an overload of carbs turns to sugar and this was not mentioned either.
What is wrong with animal protein? Please explain. Not much science behind what you say.
Mike Linares discussed several controversial topics well. Improving lifestyle will help our overall health. Each presenter has been outstanding in their own fields as well as being informative.
I would have
been more apt to
listen to the full
presentation if M
Linared had
mentioned the
role that carbs
have in heart
disease early in
his presentation.
Granted, I turned
him off when he
went all low fat
so maybe he
addressed it
later. While I
agree that “eat all
the bacon you
want” is a dumb
simplification of
low carb/ Paleo
lifestyle I would
have thought
that any heart
health speaker
on a functional
health summit
would have been
a little more
enlightened.
Sorry but thumbs
down.
Sorry for the
unintentional
finger fumble on

WHY was this guy included in a Functional Med Summit?! “Eat less animal protein” “Fat causes stiff arteries” what?! High sugar is a most likely the problem. Never heard him mention that. If this guy’s advice is what nurses & doctors are learning in school, it’s no wonder 2/3 of the public are suffering with diabesity. Very disappointed in this presentation.
Because he is trained in the
traditional western medical
model – he presents the basics.
Take his basics and integrate
all the other presented FHS
information – it makes it all
better. He paints a great basic
picture of body function.
Thank you for this summit. I am wondering, though,
whether “functional” is a correct categorization. Here is a
nurse offering typical medical information, which doesn’t
sound functional at all. Vaguely disappointed.
I walk 45 min to an hour 6 days a week —–I have diabetes
thyroid and high B/P do not eat much junk food fey food
and not much salt or sugar so why do I have all these
problem . I am 71 y old and weight 132 lbs
I have been a nurse for 40 years; this was not a
professional level presentation on
cardiovascular disease. And it does contradict
most of what other talks have said about what
leads to inflammation and steps to take to
improve heart health.
Wow! How ignorant can this guy be?
The Atkins Diet doesn’t promote
eating slabs of bacon. His
presentation is so filled with
errors, that I don’t know where to
begin. I’m surprised that Dr. Ritchie
failed to challenge him. If this is
the theme of the summit, let me out
of here! How can you have someone as
knowledgeable as Dr. Mowll present
one day, and then allow this
charlatan to bloviate the next? I
hope no one is foolish enough to
spend a dime purchasing this
misinformation.
Very disappointed that nursing students are being taught this. I have
been eating a high healthily fat- low carb diet for 2 years and my
triglycerides, CRP, cholesterol and A1c are the best they have been
years. I am 70 years old and have reversed my prediabetes. My
blood pressure is good. By healthy fat I mean cream, butter and
meat from grass fed animals, avocado, olive oil and coconut oil.
Again, disappointed in this guidance with no mention of sugar.
Not that this will matter much to most because we are a
rebellious people and do not want to follow instructions
whether the creator of heaven or earth, laws of our country,
rules by our employers, our parents, etc. Mike is right on
and is backs up what the creator of heaven and earth tells
us in the scripture Genesis 9:4: eat no flesh with its life, it’s
blood. And of course he also tells us not to eat shellfish and
pork – animals made to clean up our environment not to eat
Well Mike I can see you are seriously dedicated to the medical
model and helping nursing students who are left to fend for
themselves. As a R.N. with over 30 years practice I can understand
and relate to your cause. I have encountered more than one grad
Nursing student who had been told that they would get the practice
if they learned the theory. I mentored a number of them.
That said, I really wish you would expose yourself to Functional
medicine to learn and teach about new approaches and to
understand diet better. After seeing numerous patients with
critically low sodium levels or hyponatremia I think the advice to cut
out salt is ill advised, its not salt per say but the type of processed
salt. Also carbs as a causative factor should be addressed. Fats and
cholesterol are not the bad guys they are said to be, Its the types of
fats, and cholesterol is actually critical to many of the body
functions. Lets improve nursing.
